It is almost impossible to accurately describe the colour of the water in the Caribbean, nothing but the actual reality can really do it justice. It may be because it is ever changing and the hues seem to differ depending on where the sun is resting in the sky. Either way, the crystal clear sea surrounding the Tobago Cays is simply spectacular, to say nothing of the fish and underwater life.
During our recent trip to Grenada we were lucky enough to spot a huge 400lb Leatherback Turtle. This species is the largest of all living turtles and actually the fourth largest modern reptile. It differs dramatically from other sea turtles as it is the only one that does not have a bony shell. Instead its carapace is covered by skin and oily flesh, hence its name. Despite us finding the fella we saw large, these turtles can quite often weigh in at 850lbs and the largest ever recorded was an enormous 2020lbs, which as a mental comparison, is only slightly less than an Audi Quattro TT!
