Back in March we wrote about the sargassum seaweed that had washed up on our Eastern shores, but we now feel that we may need to clarify as there seems to have been some magnification on this subject in the UK newspapers. We have had a few messages from some of our guests, concerned that the seaweed had overtaken the island, from what we understand the press seemed to make it sound like a terrifying, triffid like, island swallowing monster! Whilst we admit that along the East Coast, it was pretty thick and could be a tad smelly, in that rugged seaweed sort of way. Our gorgeous West Coast remains as clear as it always has been, complete with golden sands, crystal waters and not a trace of seaweed. (Despite what the papers say!). This photograph was taken on Sunday afternoon and as you can see, the only real problem was that, being the peak of summer, the beach was packed to capacity! |
